Historic Kirtland Visitors’ Center Tour Itinerary

This year we are pleased to announce that the full-day historic tour will be directed by David Brown, former director of the Historic Kirtland Visitors’ Center and Karl Anderson (“Mr. Kirtland”), author of Joseph Smith’s Kirtland.  We will also be partnering with Ron Romig, site director for the Kirtland Temple and Lachlan Mackay, historic sites director for the Community of Christ.

Sunstone Kirtland Tour beginning at the LDS Historic Kirtland Visitors’ Center

May 20, 2016

  • 8:30 – 8:40: Welcome and Introduction presented bLindsay Hansen Park at the LDS Historic Kirtland Visitors’ Center
  • 8:40- 9:30: Overview – The Significance of Kirtland presented by David M. Brown
  • 9:30 – 10:00: Visitor’s Center Film presented by Elder William W. Wynder
  • 10:00 – Noon: Tour groups: Whitney Store, Whitney Home, John Johnson Inn,  Schoolhouse, Ashery and Sawmill presented by LDS Full Time Missionaries
  • Noon – 1:00: Lunch at Great Lakes Mall (Choice of fast food outlets)
  • 1:15 – 2:00: Bus to Hiram, Ohio (Q & A with Lachlan Mackay, Ron Romig, David Brown while in route)
  • 2:00 – 2:30: John Johnson Home presented by LDS Full Time Missionaries
  • 2:30 – 3:15: Bus to Kirtland and Morley Farm (Q & A with  Lachlan Mackay, Ron Romig, David Brown  while in route),Optional stops at Lorenzo Snow Home and Stone Quarry
  • 3:30 – 5:00: Morley Farm Tour and Presentation presented by “Mr. Kirtland,”  Karl Ricks Anderson
